2223 small businesses seek financing under the EIC Instrument for SMEs
The largest number of applications comes from Spain with a total of 341 proposals

The European Commission received 2223 proposals for Phase 1 of the SME Instrument of the European Innovation Council (EIC) before the last deadline of 7 November 2018. SMEs from 41 countries submitted proposals. Stay tuned, the results will come out in December 2018.
In the first phase of the SME Instrument, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) seeking financing can receive a lump sum of 50,000 euros to carry out a concept and feasibility study. The largest number of proposals for this lot was presented by the Spanish applicants (341), followed closely by the Italian (314) and British (148) applicants. ICT, health and engineering are the most popular areas of activity for applicants.
The SME Instrument is part of the pilot program of the European Innovation Council (EIC) that provides innovators, entrepreneurs, small businesses and first-class scientists with financing opportunities and acceleration services.
In Phase 1 of the SME Instrument, each project will receive a lump sum of € 50,000 to carry out a feasibility study. In Phase 2, each project will receive between 0.5 and 2.5 million euros to finance innovation activities, such as demonstrations, tests, pilot tests and scaling up. In addition, companies in both phases can benefit from free coaching and business acceleration services.
