In Texas, the city of Austin, with more than 800.000 citizens, is no surprise to be at the top of the best American cities for entrepreneurs, the city has been a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship for years, companies that have offices in Austin include Hostgator, HomeAway, Blizzard Entertainment, Facebook and Google. And compared to cities like San Francisco and New York, Austin has a much lower cost of living, and year after year increases the number of entrepreneurs and new businesses in the city.

Now is a good time for be entrepreneur in Austin, where it’s hard not to find the inspiration and information you need across many free resources and events available at these days. In Austin, entrepreneurship is not limited to MBAs. Many organizations offer classes and resources that put a business within reach for any entrepreneur. For example, Foundation Communities Financial Programs, plus many other services, offer financial programs available to self-employed individuals, small business owners or aspiring entrepreneurs.

In the field of business training and education we find BiGAUSTIN, that offers education “for entrepreneurs by entrepreneurs", with everything from one-on-one training and online training to small business loans and micro-loans. And a specific Women’s Business Center, specializing in meeting the needs of women entrepreneurs and the only women-focused U.S. Small Business Administration-backed resource in Central Texas.

Other organization based in Austin with several years of history is RISE, a nonprofit program that hosts an annual series dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs through a free, crowd-sourced, decentralized conference in which entrepreneurs connect and exchange ideas that inspire the entrepreneurial spirit. And brings together every year more people in RISE Week.

On the other hand we have PeopleFund, an Austin-based nonprofit provides financing and technical assistance to owned businesses, its courses are available year round to any eligible entrepreneur, as its five-week summer course that leads to a mentorship program in the following academic year: PeopleFund’s Junior Entrepreneurship Track. Plus the is Innovation Week, a workshop and lecture series for Central Texas entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders with educational opportunities.

These are some of the organizations with greater tradition and volume of participants in the city, but Austin offers a huge number of resources and opportunities for entrepreneurs, reason why Texas in one of the first destinations for many entrepreneurs in the U.S.
